Ska is still awesome, but yeah. Every generation needs a venue for all the band nerds from high school to stay relevant.
So your point stands.

Brass Against is my everything.
I discovered this group yesterday, and I really enjoy their work.

Kinda makes me want to break out the old trumpet and join a band.

oh man. my childhood . i can hear it now. The local pop station LOVED this song. thankfully not long after my older sister bought a CD player and started listening to “ alt rock” , and my life got much more musical.

I’ve watched a few of their videos since you brought them to my attention. They are amazing. The bari sax guy is a monster.

What is the make and model of the horn?
![]() 10/05/2018 at 15:26 |
|
Its a Huttel, made in West Germany before the wall came down.
I forget the model, its been sitting in its case for a decade or so.
I take it out every now and then to clean it and lube it.

Interesting. Never heard of that make. I would suggest that you take the pistons out and wrap them in a cloth or hand towel for storage. That keeps them from getting gunked up and stuck when stored for a long time. That’s how I store my E-flat and piccolo, both of which I rarely use. Then, when needed, I can just oil the pistons and put them in.

I’ve never had an issue of them getting nasty or stuck. Its pretty clean and well oiled.
Oh, and its HUTTL. I spelled wrong.
https://www.facebook.com/HuttlBrass/
Anton Konrad Huttl started his company in 1877. The company advertised in 1913 that they had the largest most modern factory in Austria-Hungary and Germany.
In 1945, the company was Nationalized, and they relocated in South Wales. Huttl, had a factory one in Canada that closed down in the 1970s. Those horns, said Western Germany presumably Baiersdorf, Germany.
The Chris Kratt Instrument Company was an import business marketing Huttl instruments.

Every time somebody tries to cover this song, the vocals come out borked.
She comes across as a lounge singer trying to be angry and I don’t buy it. Would be much better if it was done Richard Cheese style.

Lounge Singer? Sophia?

The wall of brass sound was awesome. Straining to hit the high notes at the end kinda sucked.

Her voice works very well on the Tool song they did, except for the scream at then end which she thoroughly borked
.
The Rage Against The Machine songs sound like Mildly Annoyed At The Machine.
It just comes across as trying to jam a square peg in a round hole. Would be much better if she didn’t try to force it as much.

You bastard. Been jamming these guys all night.
